Wednesday - Part 3 - The Venice Biennale, “The Milk of Dreams” continued

May 12, 2022

After several hours, the group I was with took a break for lunch and ate at the restaurant on the property where it turned out that the other half of our contingent were also dining.  The food was very good.  I had the vegan burger and chips and have no complaints.  Jodi has a salad and Morgan and Elizabeth had the fish and chips.  There was also a dessert which I tried a taste of, lady fingers saturated with coffee and chocolate.  Very tasty.

After eating it was back to business and we picked up where we had left off.

This brought us to the end of the first leg of the L-shaped building and an installation by Barbara Kruger.

From there we worked our way through the rest of the building and a visit to the national pavilions in an adjacent building.

About 5pm Morgan and I finished up all but a few of the remaining pavilions and walked out to the water and joined up with the other group.  Before heading back we checked out one more exhibition that Terrin recommended.  Drawing with hair…

We walked back to the exit and began retracing the steps we took this morning.  When we got to the first bridge it was time for a group photo or two.

A stop at the Bridge of Sighs is a mandatory photo op.

We got back to San Marco and looked at some sculpture of note.

The main group headed back and Elizabeth and I fell behind, getting distracted in the plaza, and we followed the route back but failed to catch up.  When we got back to the hotel we found they weren’t there. I texted them and found out they were at a canal side establishment getting hydrated and doing a debriefing.

By the time we were ready to move on it was well into the dinner hours and Mark suggested a seafood place across from the fish market so, after a brief stop at our rooms, we met up there.  It was quite elegant.  Everyone enjoyed their meals of mussels, shrimp, gnocchi, wines, and desserts.  By the time we walked back to the hotel, it was about midnight and there was still quite a bit of activity in the streets.
